Is hum n play free?
Yes — everything here is free to play right now. Wander through any activity without paying anything.
Do I have to make an account?
No — you can play everything without signing up. An account just saves your gardens, stories, journal entries, gratitude, and drawings so they're waiting for you next time. If you'd rather not sign up, you can still explore freely; your creations just won't be saved when you leave.
How does saving work? I don't see a password field.
We use magic links instead of passwords. When you save, we email you a link — tap it, and you're logged in. Nothing to remember, nothing to reset. Your creations are tied to your email.
I saved my garden but didn't get the email.
Give it a minute — the email can take a moment to arrive, especially on phones. If it's still not there, check your Promotions, Updates, or Spam folders (it sometimes lands there the first time). Once you find it, marking it "not spam" helps future links come straight to your inbox.
The email showed up on my computer but not my phone (or vice versa).
This is normal — mail apps on different devices sync on their own schedule, so one can lag a minute or two behind the other. Pull down to refresh your inbox and it'll appear. It's the same email in the same account, so it will show up on both.
I tapped the link inside my mail app and it didn't work, or my creation was gone.
Mail apps sometimes open links in their own built-in mini-browser instead of your real one (Safari or Chrome), and that mini-browser doesn't always carry over what you were working on. Two things that help:
- After tapping the link, give the page a few seconds to finish loading before deciding it didn't work — logging in takes a moment to complete.
- If it still looks empty, open the site directly in Safari or Chrome and it should be there.
For the smoothest experience, we recommend opening links in Safari or Chrome rather than inside a mail app.
Do I need to make a new account every time?
No — just use the same email address each time. Every magic link logs you back into the same account, where all your saved creations live.
Can I build on my phone and open the link on my computer?
Right now it works best to tap the link on the same device you were creating on. If you build on your phone, open the emailed link on your phone. We're always improving this.
Is this a replacement for therapy or mental health care?
No. hum n play is a gentle space to pause, reflect, and play — it's not therapy or a substitute for professional care. If you're going through something heavy, please reach out to a qualified professional or a support line in your area.
Are my creations private?
Your saved creations are tied to your email and yours to keep. For the details, see our privacy page.
